Do I need to upload an audio file?
No — this tool doesn't touch audio at all. You type a BPM, it gives you the times. If you don't know your track's tempo, detect it first with our BPM finder, then bring the number here.
How are the times calculated?
From the universal formula: one beat (a quarter note) lasts 60,000 ÷ BPM milliseconds. The other note values are simple multiples or divisions of that — a 1/8 is half of it, a whole note four times it. Dotted values multiply by 1.5, triplets by 2/3. At 120 BPM, a quarter note is 500 ms, a dotted 1/8 is 375 ms.
Which delay time should I pick for my track?
Match the delay to the rhythm you want it to play. A 1/4 or 1/8 gives a clear, on-the-grid echo; the dotted 1/8 is the classic groovy delay heard on countless vocals and guitars; triplet values fit shuffled or swung tracks. Copy the ms value into your delay's time field (with tempo sync off) and let your ears arbitrate.
How do I use these values for reverb?
As starting points for the two times that matter: set the pre-delay to a short value from the table (a 1/32 or 1/16 keeps the dry transient separated from the reverb onset in time with the track), and aim the decay so the tail dies on a musical boundary — around one bar (four times the 1/4 value) is a common starting point for a medium reverb. These are conventions, not laws: nudge from there by ear.
